A brilliantly executed geometric abstract mid-century modernist streetscape that captures a quiet neighbourhood setting, executed in oil onto board and dated 1953.
Simplified geometric forms suggest a cluster of houses, defined by interlocking planes of mustard yellow, charcoal, and muted sage. A single dark chimney silhouette anchors the composition against a subdued, grey-green sky.
The painting is executed in broad, deliberate brushstrokes, lending a sense of structural weight and stillness to the scene. This oil on board is housed in very well suited white painted wood frame with an inner gilt window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has slight wear, but is in good condition overall.
