A very well executed mid century modernist still life composition from the 1950s, painted in oil onto canvas.

Featuring broad and loose brushstrokes and thickly applied paint, this expressionist still life is full of texture and depth. The artist has used blocks of non-naturalistic colour to build up the composition, leaving areas of impasto (where the paint stand prouds from the surface) which give this painting its raw and earthy quality. The palette is muted and restrained, focused mainly on nude, beige and brown with hints of blue and green.

This oil painting is housed in a silver frame that suits it perfectly. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some general scuffing and marks.
