Pot & Bowl

SOLD

A captivating mid-century modernist still life composition, executed in oil onto board and dated 1955.

The focal point is a blue pot nestled within a larger bowl, both sitting atop a dark wood brown surface, and set against a cream backdrop.

The style of the painting is typically modernist in ethos, as the artist has deconstructed the scene down to blocks of contrasting colours, to demonstrate a sense of depth and dimension.

The colour palette features muted and subdued shades of brown, blue, and cream. Each hue is carefully selected to complement the overall aesthetic, creating a harmonious balance throughout the piece.

The expressive and textured brushstrokes of the pot and bowl add a dynamic energy to the scene, imbuing the objects with a sense of presence. In contrast, the smoother brushstrokes of the surrounding elements provide a serene backdrop against which the central forms shine.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary painted wood frame. There is a very small pin hole to right edge of painting as shown in the close up but this does not detract from overall attractiveness of the piece. The painting is in very good vintage condition otherwise.  The frame has some scuff marks but is in good condition overall.
