A brilliantly executed mid century modernist semi abstract composition in oil, painted onto board.
Reminiscent of the Modern British St Ives painter Ben Nicholson who was also fascinated with table top scenes, this composition features a real interest in cubist techniques. The artist here uses a still life composition of plates, mugs and a bottle on a table with a flattened perspective while still suggesting their three dimensional forms. This composition is executed in a warm colour palette, with a smooth finish.
The painting is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some scuffing.
