A lively and brilliantly executed mid-century modernist style interior still life composition, executed in gouache.

The painting features a jug, a bunch of grapes, and abstract forms resembling fruits, all set on a table adorned with a scalloped edge cloth. The background showcases shutters and window elements, suggesting an interior space with hints of the outside world, adding depth to the scene.

Modernist in its ethos, the artist has skilfully deconstructed the scene into bold geometric shapes and angular lines, dividing the space into distinct yet harmonious sections and making the composition well-balanced.

A restrained palette of predominantly yellows and greens in varying tones, complemented by accents of white have been used, enhancing the artwork’s serene yet vibrant atmosphere.

This gouache on paper is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner linen border, and is glazed (there is a layer of glass between the frame and the painting to ensure its longevity). The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has a small paint loss at its top edge, as shown in the close up. Otherwise it is in good vintage condition.
