A wonderfully textured mid century landscape composition, painted in oil onto board and dated 1947.

In this composition we see a masterful build up of layer of colour, each brushstroke adding depth and texture to the artwork. Creamy swathes of paint are carefully folded into each other, creating a myriad of detail and three dimensionality. We even see areas where the artist has used the back of his brush to mark the surface and convey the strata within the rock. The scene is quiet and restful, capturing the rural countryside landscape.

This peaceful oil on board is housed in a lovely wood frame with multiple windows. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
