Pastel Settlement

A soothing mid-century modernist composition that reduces a landscape to its essential forms, transforming a familiar rural scene into a harmonious arrangement of colour, shape, and space, executed in oil onto canvas.

A cluster of simplified buildings sits along the horizon, their geometric silhouettes emerging from broad fields of muted earth tones and soft pastel hues. The result is a landscape that feels both recognisable and abstracted, balancing observation with artistic interpretation.

Executed in a distinctly modernist style, the artist dispenses with descriptive detail in favour of large, carefully structured planes of colour. The composition is thoughtfully constructed, with horizontal bands of land and sky intersected by the angular forms of houses and rooftops.
