An outstanding and vibrant scenic landscape with houses, rendered in oil and dated 1962.
The artist shows off his painterly skills – displaying his talents of the use of a palette knife not only in the application of paint, but in mixing colours as well.
Through the use of a palette knife in a swift and sweeping motion, areas of smooth creamy paint fill the canvas, adding a lovely three-dimensional texture to the lively painted surface.
The artist also has a deep understanding of colour. Using a myriad of shades, not only has he been able to mix and layer the respective colours that harmonise brilliantly to give rise to the various forms, but has also used contrasting planes of colours to demonstrate depth in this painting.
This oil on board is housed in a simple white wooden frame which suits it very well. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
