A well executed mid century modernist nude composition, painted in oil onto board.
This nude study in oil features a figure seated on a day bed. Featuring a restrained but very well balanced palette, the artist has left out realistic detailing and has instead focused on the form, shape and posture of the figure and her surroundings. The brushstrokes appear loose and expressive, suggesting that this was probably a life drawing.
This oil on board is housed in a well-suited gilt frame with an inner cream and green border that picks up the colours of the painting. There are scattered marks on the surface of the painting, as well as some losses at the top edge of the painting due to the frame.
