Luminous Pears

A brilliantly executed and characterful mid-century still life in oil, painted by the established Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden.

In this excellent composition, three pears are laid out on a white bowl. Working with a rich and saturated colour palette, the objects appear illuminated. They are set against a backdrop of darker shades including  blue, red, black, and green that intermingle, creating a visually striking contrast that makes the bowl of pears stand out more.

The artist’s masterful use of the impasto technique adds another layer of depth and texture to the painting. Thick, expressive brushstrokes and layers of paint create a tactile quality, and the impasto technique not only enriches the visual experience but also imparts a sense of dynamism and vitality to the composition.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid century silver frame with an inner linen lining. The painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
