Watching the Boats
SOLD.
A beautiful and expressive composition of a marina, executed in oil onto board and dated 1952.
The painting presents a scene at a marina with 2 boats docked by a jetty. In the foreground of the painting, a group of figures are huddled together, mesmerised by the waves crashing and the boats.
Using a soothing colour palette, the artist has applied loose and expressive brushstrokes to compose this restful and heart-warming scene.
This oil on board is housed in a wide profiled distressed frame with a cream coloured inner border. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
Size: 53 x 61 cm (including frame)
