A seated male figure punctuates the center of the composition. He is reading and absorbed in the pages of a book. The background, a soothing blend of light beige and white, is rendered abstractly, allowing the viewer’s focus to remain on the central figure with more striking colours.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary distressed style wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has paint losses as shown.
