A confidently executed and richly textured modernist style composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

Containing elements of geometric abstraction, the artist has skilfully captured a street scene featuring a row of houses in varying sizes. The scene has been simplified and reduced down to blocks of contrasting colours, as well as bold, powerful, and distinct brushstrokes.

The artist has deliberately used a restrained palette that allows for a balanced colour scheme, with muted hues of white, green, and orange, contrasting against punches of black to balance the composition.

The masterful use of the impasto technique creates texture and depth to the painting – with thick, textured brushstrokes giving the artwork a tactile quality, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the scene.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim black wood frame. The painting has an area of craquelure to its top left corner as shown in close ups, but the paint layer is stable overall and it is in good vintage condition.
