A brilliantly executed mid-century figurative portrait, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The subject, an elongated female figure dressed in a patterned blouse, is seated with delicately folded hands resting in her lap. Her simplified, geometric face and dramatically shaped black hair draw attention to the minimal features, emphasising the serenity and poise of the figure.

The composition is carefully balanced with layered rectangular forms in muted earth tones – taupe, beige, and chocolate – serving as a backdrop. These shapes subtly echo the rigid pose of the figure while enhancing the sense of depth through tonal shifts.
