A delicate and elegant mid-century interior still life composition, painted in oil onto board.
At the heart of the composition is a potted geranium, its blushing pink blossoms and lush green foliage rendered in thick, expressive strokes that suggest the fleeting warmth of sunlight filtering into the room.
The flower is flanked by two pitchers – one an earthy brown and the other a cool, light pale blue. The background is divided into blocks of pastel yellows, muted purples, and soft aquas, creating a subtly abstracted interior that emphasises tonal harmony and light.
Painted with loose yet deliberate brushwork, the surface reveals the artist’s hand in every sweep and dab, imbuing the scene with movement.
This oil on board is housed in a complementary white-painted distressed style wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has a small nick at its left corner but is in very good condition overall.
