A fun and playful modernist still life composition, painted in oil onto board and dated 1992 by the established Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

An assortment of colourful fruit and veg sit amongst a vivid blue background, creating a really playful and striking picture. Interestingly, beneath the blue we see glimpses of pink, giving the blue a slight purple tone and adding another layer of depth.

Each piece of fruit and vegetable has been given careful attention, each one laid out such that they are of equal importance. The flatness of the perspective gives the painting its fun and naïve quality, and would make a wonderful conversation piece for a kitchen shelf or wall.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The gilt frame has some scuffing present.
