A very unique original artwork by British artist Dave Boyd, constructed from discarded books (repurposed cloth covers, papers, cardboard, binding boards) mounted on a wooden panel in a solid wood float frame, showcasing a harmonious balance of geometry, texture, and earthy tones.

The design features six evenly spaced circles arranged in two vertical columns—three white on the left and three shades of red on the right—against a textured warm brown background. The surface of the panel retains the subtle wear, creases, and grain of the original book cloth, giving the piece a tactile, aged quality that suggests both history and reuse.

The division of the background into top and bottom halves by a horizontal seam adds structural interest and hints at the collage-like assembly of materials.

Dave’s artistic practice focuses on the juxtaposition between the manmade and the natural and the human experience of geometric forms, surfaces and materials. Paintings and collages often embody a built or constructed aesthetic and are strongly influenced by architecture and the built environment, with the aim of suggesting visual encounters with structures and landscapes. Utilising and repurposing materials,  with a focus on minimal composition, surface and colour, Dave’s work seek to utilise the subtle marks inherent in objects that have been used and handled over many years.
