A brilliant mid-century figurative composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The focal point of this painting is a female figure in a long back dress carrying a basket on her head, and surrounded by an abstract background.

Intentionally working with a limited and monochrome colour palette, the artist has reduced the area around the figure into blocks in different sizes and in different gradients of grey, creating a subdued atmosphere.

The artist’s brushstrokes are gentle and soft, reflecting a careful attention to detail and creating a sense of calmness throughout the artwork.

This oil on canvas is housed in a beautiful silver frame with an inner linen border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some scuffs.
