A brilliantly executed mid-century still life composition with strong cubist influences, painted in oil onto board.

The composition features a chair, a lemon, a table, and a vase with elongated green leaves, set against a structured interior setting.

Drawing inspiration from elements of cubism and geometric abstraction, the artist has masterfully flattened and fragmented the scene down to distinct geometric planes and angular shapes that interact with one another. Each respective shape seems to occupy its own distinct space, yet together they form a cohesive and harmonious whole.

The colour palette is muted and earthy, dominated by browns, creams, and subdued pinks, contrasted by a pop of green from the leaves and the yellow accent from the lemon on the table. These contrasting darker and lighter tones highlight the three-dimensional qualities of each object, whilst simultaneously emphasising the two-dimensional flatness of the board.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary wood frame. The painting has some minor surface marks, and the  frame has some light scuffing.
