A vibrant and energetic modernist painting, executed in oil onto board and dated 1933 on reverse.

The composition presents a well-lit interior scene, where two female figures are seated on chairs, engrossed in the activity of handicraft.

Containing elements of post-impressionism, the painting is characterised by rich colours as well as loose and expressive brushwork.

The colour palette is bold and vibrant, with saturated hues of blue, orange, green, and yellow creating a visually stimulating and emotionally charged atmosphere. The use of expressive and dynamic brushstrokes gives a sense of spontaneity and also reflects the lively atmosphere of the scene.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame, which has some minor scuffs in keeping with age. There is some slight wear to the painting edges, but otherwise it’s in very good vintage condition.
