A vibrant mid century modernist composition, painted in oil onto board by Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

This painting portrays a rural scene with a figure on a cart traveling along a country road. The style is expressive and vibrant, with simplified forms and a focus on colour and atmosphere. Trees and greenery frame the composition on either side, creating a sense of enclosure and leading the viewer’s eye to the house in the distance. Forms are softened, with minimal details, emphasizing the overall mood rather than realism.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has scuffs and some wear.
