A subtle and outstanding mid-century modernist style composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The silhouettes of three female figures punctuate the foreground of the painting. Depicted in dark brown attire, they are the focal point of the composition as their colours contrast starkly against the lighter tones of the surrounding environment which portrays white buildings of differing heights, stretching out into the distance.

The artist has used gentle and muted blocks of cream, taupe, white, with hints of brown. These soft colours create a subdued atmosphere, evoking a sense of tranquillity. The brushstrokes in the painting are gentle and smooth, creating a sense of calmness throughout the artwork.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner gilt and white window. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
