An exquisite still life composition, executed in oil onto board and signed by Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden.

The painting features a simple yet captivating arrangement of luscious apples resting on a striking blue bowl. It is set against a backdrop of varying brown hues.

Using a rich and saturated colour palette, the artist has used the colour gradient technique to highlight the three-dimensional qualities of the apples. Thick and expressive brushstrokes have been applied in a confident manner, adding depth and texture to the piece.

This oil on board is housed in a well-suited gilt frame. The painting has light craquelure but this is commensurate with its age and the thickness of paint. Nevertheless, the paint layer is very stable.
