A charming mid-century modernist still life composition that captures a tabletop arrangement rendered in bold, expressive strokes, executed in oil onto canvas.
Inviting viewers to revel in the simple beauty of everyday objects, the painting presents a tall green bottle, flanked by two oranges and two pears – one a deep green and the other a warm golden hue. The fruit appears loosely arranged on a white and mauve tablecloth, set against a richly layered background of deep blues and soft purples.
The artist has used a vivid and and lively colour palette, with saturated tones of green, burnt orange, rich blue and violet playing off one another to create both harmony and contrast. The brushstrokes are confident and gestural, with visible textural layering giving the work a sense of movement and energy.
This oil on canvas is housed in complementary silver painted wood frame with an inner cream border. The painting is in very good vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffing.Â
