The painting portrays a row of houses with steep roofs, nestled amidst a nature landscape with grass and foliage, and under an overcast sky or at dusk.

The artist has used a semi-abstract style – simplifying the various forms and capturing the mood of the scene rather than focusing on realistic details.

The brushwork is loose and expressive-  with a blend of short, sharp dashes in the foreground and houses that add a dynamic quality, and softer and gentler strokes used to paint the sky.

The colour palette is subdued and atmospheric, dominated by shades of grey, blues, and greens, with touches of white and soft yellows.  These muted tones lend a somber mood to the scene.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary hessian lined frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some light scuffing.
