A Curious Trio

A wonderfully characterful trio of vintage oil paintings from the 1960s, each depicting solitary figures with their own rather distinctive personality. There’s something both charming and slightly comical about these three figures, with their hunched shoulders, oversized coats and wonderfully expressive postures.

Painted with confident, textured brushstrokes and an earthy, muted palette, each portrait captures its subject with just enough detail to give us a sense of who they might be, while leaving plenty to the imagination. One stands rather confidently with his hands in his pockets, another leans heavily on his walking stick, while the third appears to be striding off somewhere, perhaps with somewhere important to be.

What we particularly love about these paintings is how well they work together. Although each has its own personality and colour palette, there’s a lovely visual connection between them. Their individual vintage frames, with their different finishes and subtle gilt detailing, add to the charm of the collection.

A delightful little 1960s trio that brings humour, warmth and a touch of storytelling to a wall. Perfect displayed together, just as we’ve shown them in our gallery.

This trio is in good vintage condition. They have some minor marks and scuffs to their frames but nothing that detracts from their overall appearance.
