The Blue Table

A charming and expressive mid-century interior still life depicting a quiet, light-filled room centred around a vase of pink tulips arranged upon a table, executed in oil onto canvas.

The artist has worked in an expressive modernist manner, balancing recognisable forms with areas of abstraction. The interior is rendered through loose, spontaneous brushwork, with layers of paint and visible texture creating a wonderfully atmospheric surface. Architectural details are deliberately softened, allowing light and colour to take precedence over precise representation.

A beautifully restrained palette of powder blue, turquoise, chalky white, soft grey and muted sage is enlivened by the warm coral-pink of the tulips. Deeper touches of cobalt and navy in the vase provide contrast and draw the eye towards the centre of the composition. The overall effect is fresh and luminous, capturing the gentle quality of daylight filtering through the room.

This oil on canvas is presented in a complementary wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has scuffs.
