Golden Drift

A  serene and atmospheric abstract landscape that captures the quiet poetry of an open horizon rendered through expressive texture and colour, executed in oil onto board and dated 1994.

The composition is anchored by a band of deep browns, charcoals and soft whites that suggest distant landforms or shifting terrain, while the foreground dissolves into warm ochres, honeyed yellows and sandy neutrals. Above, a vast expanse of pale sky – softly blended in tones of white, cream and frosted blue evokes a sense of calm, openness, and gentle movement.

Executed in an abstract, modernist style, the painting relies on suggestion rather than literal detail. Broad, confident brushstrokes move horizontally across the canvas, creating a sense of depth and natural flow. Areas of impasto add tactile richness, with strokes layered and textured to mimic geological or weather-worn surfaces. The overall effect is both soothing and energetic, a landscape distilled to its essential mood and rhythm.

This oil on board is presented in a complementary silver wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has scuffs present.
