A small but very impactful mid century modernist landscape composition, painted in oil onto board.

In this painting we see a group of trees depicted in an expressionist style, with thickly applied paint in vivid, non-naturalistic colours. The artist has created areas of impasto, where the paint stands proud from the surface, adding texture and three dimensionality to the composition. Using an autumnal palette mainly composing rich hues of orange, brown, black and yellow, the artist has captured the bark on the trunks in a very personal and expressive way, creating a lively array of colour and texture.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary black frame with an inner white panel border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has areas of paint loss which have been previously coloured in with black, as shown in close ups.
