A tranquil and serene modernist winter scape composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1940.

Depicting a winter scene, the canvas is dominated by white grounds, representing a vast expense of freshly fallen snow with some traces of greenery and a body of water showing in the background. The winter landscape is hushed and still, evoking a sense of calm and peacefulness.  To the right of the painting, a pop of colour catches the eye – a red tank or shed stands out and acts as a focal point, with its bold hue creating a striking contrast against the white backdrop.

The artist’s deliberate use of a limited muted and soothing palette as well as gentle sweeping brushstrokes beautifully captures the essence of the winter landscape with elegance and grace.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary robust gilt frame. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has some wear to the bottom edge as shown but  overall it is in keeping with the distressed/vintage style of the frame.
