An enigmatic mid-century semi-abstract figurative oil painting, that masterfully contrasts light and dark elements.

In a mysterious, dark black room rendered with swift and expressive brushstrokes that serves as the backdrop, a figure punctuating the center of the composition is the focal point.  The dark room has a dimly lit ambiance, and we can spot a dark brown chair and table.

The female figure emerges from the darkness in stark contrast. With her gaze directed downward and seemingly engaged in an activity, her form has been reduced into blocks of contrasting colours painted in light colours, creating a powerful visual juxtaposition against the surroundings. The artist has deliberately omitted realistic details, opting instead for bold outlines that define the contours of her figure, resulting in an almost abstract representation.

This oil on board is housed in complementary wood frame.  Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
