A brilliantly executed mid century modernist still life in oil, painted onto canvas.

Deep, earthy colours make up this subdued palette, which is composed of a trio of bottles and 2 oranges atop a table. There is a distinct focus on form and line, where the artist has played with the shape of the objects and their shadows against geometrical planes. Areas of impasto are visible, where the paint has been painted thickly and we can see the directional strokes of the artist’s brush, creating a painterly effect. The texture of the painted surface also adds the three dimensionality of the painting, as well as highlights the effect of light on the painting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner linen border. There is a small area of paint loss at the lower right corner of the painting (as shown) but this does not detract from the overall attractiveness of the piece.
