A soft and gentle mid century modernist coastalscape composition, painted in oil onto board by Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Two figures, draped in white, sit casually with their back towards the sea in quiet conversation. Behind them is a building with a domed roof, and next to that are two boats.  Beyond them is the blue sea and evidence of another town or city in the horizon.  There is a diaphanous quality to this piece, which features a pastel palette of soft pink, blue, yellow and green. The artist has painted it with soft, gentle strokes and has kept the forms in the composition rounded. The artist has captured the light of the Tunisian coastal scene beautifully, making this piece very peaceful and uplifting.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very light scuffs.
