Through the Farmhouses
SOLD
A very pleasant mid-century modernist style painting, executed in oil onto board by the established Swedish artist Richard Björklund (1897–1974) whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Malmo Museum, Ystads Art Museum, and others.
The composition presents a figure walking down a pathway lined with farmhouses.
The artist has worked under a largely modernist ethos, simplifying the scene down to blocks of colours, using contrasting tones to create depth and space within the picture.
The painting has a very soothing quality overall, brought forth through the use of a cool palette including shades of blue and beige, as well as gentle brushstrokes.
This oil on board is housed in a stunning frame with multiple borders. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some marks on its linen border but is otherwise in good condition.
Size: 50 x 58 cm (including frame)
