A very well executed mid century oil composition of a windmill by a stream, painted onto canvas in an impressionist style.

Reminiscent of artists like Monet, this painting features distinctively impressionist characteristics such as short, visible, textured brushstrokes, an open composition, and a beautiful depiction of light and its ever changing quality.

Evident within this picture is the artist’s mastery of the medium – each brushstroke carries within it a myriad of blended and unblended colour, resulting in a textured composition that captures the diaphanous quality of the landscape.

The painting carries a wonderful array of delicate detailing, from the birds in the sky, to the little fence approaching the stream, as well as the church in the distance.

This Dutch landscape in oil is housed in a very attractive wide profile distressed frame with silver and gilt detailing. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition, with some very minor scuffs that are commensurate with age.
