A large and brilliantly executed mid century modernist figurative composition, painted in oil on to canvas and dated 1958.

In this composition we see a seated male figure dressed in a blue suit, with his arms and legs crossed. He looks down pensively, his mind appears to be preoccupied. The artist has intentionally left out realistic detailing, focusing instead on the form of the figure and his surroundings. Broad, gestural brushstrokes have been used, giving the piece its painterly characteristic. There is a very calming energy to the painting, and would suit a library or drawing room perfectly.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. The painting has very light scattered craquelure present to its surface. The top edge of the canvas has a seam line where it appears to be attached to a backing canvas.
