A wonderfully executed and striking mid-century modernist style composition, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1967.

The painting depicts an interior setting where a female figure is poised on a vibrant red couch beside a striking yellow table. She is holding a white napkin, and there is a bowl placed beside her on the table.

The modernist style of the artwork manifests in the reduction of the composition to blocks of contrasting shades, accented by precise black outlines that highlight the respective forms.

The artist has intentionally omitted the figure’s facial details, and the rich colour palette as well as expressive brushstrokes imbue the work with liveliness.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffing.
