A very well executed semi abstract mid century modernist composition, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 63.
Despite its semi abstract composition, we can just about make out the form of a jetty. Board and gestural swathes of creamy paint have been applied to the canvas, creating this textured and expressionist composition. The colours and brushstrokes blend beautifully into one another, creating a gentle but distinct gradient of shades as the composition shifts from sky to sea to land. The artist has reduced the structure of the jetty down to a seemingly simple but very effective series of brushstrokes in green, with outlines in black.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has very minor scuffing.
