A charming modernist painting in oil of a figure by a table. The artist has used large, flat planes of colour to create this composition. Realistic details have been intentionally left out, and focus has instead been paid attention to form, shape and colour. Interestingly, the artist has chosen to paint the tulips in a much more realistic manner, creating a distinct contrast and pop of colour against the rest of the more angular, flat composition.
The painting is housed in a gorgeous dark wood and gilt frame, with an inner linen slip. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
