A very well executed mid century modernist composition in oil, painted onto board.
In this painting a white clay pipe takes centre stage. To its right a we see a cup and behind it a brown box. The artist has created a textured effect with the white paint, moving across the board in a considered manner, creating visible brushstrokes over a darker prepared surface which only just shows through, giving the composition its depth and tactility. The painting’s composition is very well balanced, and is very pleasing to look at.
This oil on board is housed in a very well made distressed vintage frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some surface wear to corners but this in keeping with its vintage look and does not stand out at all.
