A brilliantly executed semi-abstract modernist oil composition, painted by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum and Jönköping Museum.

The composition of the painting draws our attention to two figures seated on a bench amidst lush greenery. The artist’s deliberate omission of detailed features encourages viewers to focus on the overall atmospheric ambiance.

Painted in a semi-abstract style, there is a strong focus on expressive brushstrokes, as well as rich colours. The use of painterly and dynamic brushstrokes create a sense of movement throughout the painting, and the clever use of a limited colour palette dominated by various shades of greens and browns and blue helps to unify the composition and emphasise the beauty of the natural surroundings.

This oil on board  is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner cream window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some light marks.
