Forest in Abstract
SOLD.
A brilliantly executed abstract landscape oil composition painted by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum. The painting is dated 1970.
The painting encapsulates the essence of a forest in an abstracted style. The artist’s approach reduces the natural landscape to its core elements, emphasizing a limited yet powerful colour palette. Rich shades of green dominate the canvas, evoking the lushness of the forest, while creamy hues and earthy browns offer contrast and balance.
The painting is characterized by expressive, textured, and confident brushstrokes. The brushwork is bold and dynamic, creating a sense of movement and energy within the composition.
This oil on canvas laid onto board is housed in a complementary gilt frame that pairs well and illuminates the painting. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
Size: 33 x 47.5 cm (including frame)
