A nostalgic and subdued mid-century modernist style composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

A female figure in a patterned brown dress and matching headscarf stands with her back turned, gazing out toward a sunlit seafront. Her form is silhouetted against a pale, softly radiant sky, while two distant figures walk near the shoreline, rendered in minimal, blurred strokes.

Executed in a minimalist modernist style, the painting features simplified forms and subtle geometry. The palette is muted yet warm – soft browns, beiges, and taupes contrast gently with the hazy whites and greys of the sky, punctuated by a sliver of blue on the horizon. The brushwork is smooth and controlled, with soft gradients and diffused edges creating a dreamlike, almost cinematic stillness. The overall effect evokes quiet introspection, solitude, and the gentle passage of time.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary champagne-coloured frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
