Silent Companions

A quiet arresting mid-century modernist figurative painting, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

This composition presents two elongated female figures standing side by side, their presence both grounded and ethereal. The subjects are reduced to essential forms – tall, cloaked silhouettes with simplified faces – imbuing them with a sense of introspection and quiet detachment. This oil on canvas is present softly toned linen lined wood frame with a stepped, layered profile that creates gentle depth and guides the eye inward toward the composition. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
