An outstanding modernist style composition of a church window, executed in oil onto board.

Depicting four figures in a prayerful gesture, the painting models the appearance of a stained glass window, whereby the overall composition has been segmented into fragments of different shapes and sizes.

Using visible painterly brushstrokes, the artist has painted the blocks in contrasting saturated colours with bold outlines to help create a sense of depth to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary dark wood frame with an inner linen and gilt window that pairs very well with the painting. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
