An expressive and richly coloured mid-century still life composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

Set against a beige backdrop rests a jar of white and purple flowers as well as an assortment of ripe fruit including apples, grapes, and a pear.

The artist has used short and expressive brushstrokes, infusing the scene with energy. Selecting a rich colour palette, the artist has masterfully used the colour gradient technique to capture the play of light on the fruit surfaces, wonderfully highlighting their three-dimensional qualities.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner linen border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
