A brilliantly painted mid century figurative composition, executed in oil onto board.

This artwork depicts a male figure dressed in blue, lying downwards with his hand resting on his cheek, as he reads a book.

The style of the painting is typically modernist in ethos as the artist has deconstructed this everyday scene down to geometric forms as well as contrasting colours to create a sense of depth and space.

The respective geometric shapes have been defined by black outlines as well as expressive diagonal brushstrokes, which further emphasises each individual form and elevates the painting’s overall uniqueness.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid-century gilt frame. The painting is in good vintage condition. The frame has some age wear to the inner border but this is in keeping with its overall style and does not detract from the overall attractiveness of the piece.
