Pot & Peaches

SOLD.

A very well executed modernist still life composition in oil, painted onto cradled panel and dated 1953.

Featuring flat planes of colour, clean lines and a myriad of shapes, this modernist still life certainly holds our attention. With an array of objects laid across a table, our eyes are encouraged to span the long horizontal layout. Simple day-to-day objects such as a wine glass, apples, a pot and a plate are brought centre stage by the artist, beckoning us to appreciate their individual forms and the way each shape, colour and line communicates and juxtaposes with another to create this balanced composition. The smoothness of the panel substrate adds a unique aesthetic to the work.

This oil is unframed but has been painted onto a cradled panel and therefore does not need a frame and can be hung as is. The painting is in excellent vintage condition.

Size: 20 x 54 cm (including frame)
