A brilliantly executed and characterful mid-century still life in oil, painted by the established Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984), whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden.

In this excellent composition, an assortment of objects including three pears, a pipe, a pitcher, a lemon, and a book are thoughtfully laid out on a wooden surface.

Working with a rich and saturated colour palette, the objects appear illuminated. They are set against a backdrop of darker shades including blue, red, black, and green that intermingle, creating a visually striking contrast that makes the bowl of pears stand out more.

Working with a rich colour palette comprising shades of green, brown, yellow, and white, the artist has skilfully captured the three-dimensional qualities of the objects and the intricate grain of the wood, whilst simultaneously emphasizing the two-dimensional flatness of the board. The expressive and lightly textured brushstrokes further enrich the visual experience of the piece.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid-century silver frame with an inner linen lining. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has very minor scuffs, and there is light age toning to the linen lined area of the frame as shown in photos. Trust us when we say the painting is much better in real life than in the photographs! Please note that some glare is evident in the photos.
