A brilliantly executed, pensive mid century modernist still life in oil, painted in 1935.

Textured, expressionist brushstrokes fill the canvas, capturing a soft light that enters this interior scene. We see two paintbrushes sitting quietly in a ceramic jug on a table, with a window behind it to its right. The artist has beautifully captured the scene – the paintbrushes have seen a day’s work, with remnants of their paint still evident on their tips. The artist has taken these simple objects as his subject, and has shown us how delicate and poignant his tools are to him.

This wonderful painting is housed in a robust frame which suits it very well. The oil painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has some very minor scuffs.
